Abbey Library DIY Book Nook Kit

A great, beautiful book nook. Requires patience and a delicate hand.
This is my first set from this company. I really loved this design as it stood out from other bookstore/library sets. I have some exp. building (simple) gunpla and Rolife DIYs. IMO this set was not that difficult as some comments mentioned. I finished this less than a week pulling all nighters total of 20~ hours (last min. birthday present) and had a great time putting everything together. If you can read and TAKE YOUR TIME READING the instructions then you should be fine. Some piece snap together easier than others, otherwise you can 1) hammer the tabs or 2) sand down the tabs and then glue for a confident fit. The books were the most tedious to assemble, but are honestly the best parts to complete the look of your mini library. No missing pieces, in fact I had some extras. Lighting is beautiful and worth setting up! Just make sure you maneuver the right lines. Some of the side panels may not fit perfectly but you can sand them down or glue them together if you’re confident that everything inside will stay in place. My “roof” doesn’t fit in all the way but it’s not a big deal to me. Overall build is pretty sturdy. Don’t push out all the pieces at once as you WILL lose track of which is which. Use the push tool for smaller/thinner pieces, don’t harshly force them out. The set provides glue, a mini file, tweezers, and a mini metal hammer. I used them all. — When you get to the stairs, I highly suggest you glue the top steps together—and bottom ones, so you can move the whole thing easier. Don’t forget the metal rod! — Tape down the wires, you don’t have to pin them with the wooden pieces. — If you have left over books and paintings, feel free to customize the placement! This can be a fun family project but maybe not for younger kids as this set does require a delicate touch for some steps. ⚠️Work in a room with adequate ventilation if you’re using the provided glue! ⚠️ The wood does have a slight smell if you’re sensitive about that.

This is a super difficult project. Instructions are very vague and often wrong! They don’t explain the steps, especially for the wiring! It’s extremely small to work with. I can’t finish mine because it falls apart when you try to put on one piece! Some pasts need to be glued and some are not. The instructions make it even more confusing. Def not worth the frustration and I do ALOT of the diy houses.

This takes a long time to assemble but it is easy and really detailed. I am so happy I bought this. I worked on it for a week several hours a day until I got it done. I would recommend moving the button to turn it on. The directions say to put it in the ceiling but I moved it to where the battery is so it is easy to access and you don't have to remove the glass. I really had fun building this and definitely plan on getting more.

This was a wonderfully fun miniature. The directions were very clear and the finished product is so cool! Do yourself a favor and put a dab of glue on the bottom of each book as you put them into the shelves, this way they stay put when moving the finished nook.

I had like 4 or 5 pieces break just by trying to put them together or get them out of the wood. Getting it together is also a pain. The details on it is beautiful though, even despite the difficulty. I couldn't get it altogether unfortunately.

So in love with this piece. I only gave 4 stars because I found the directions a bit difficult to follow. It is insanely tedious and absolutely beautiful!! Highly recommend! Just be ready to spend a full day to 3 days to finish!

I got this as a gift and it was my first book nook! It was definitely tedious with a ton of little pieces and gluing things that didn't completely stay correctly. It took me around 14 hours to complete the whole thing (spread over a couple days). I was a bit concerned about the sturdiness of everything as I was building but once all the walls are in, nothing seems to move or wobble! The hardest part was definitely getting the two side walls lined up correctly but once I took a few breathers and got a helping hand it worked great.The only downside is my lighting stopped working before I even got everything finished :( They were working great until a taped the chandelier and switch to the top, which may have been user error.It’s still GORGEOUS and I can’t wait to find a place on my bookshelf for this!!

This was relaxing putting together, and it turned out great! The details are amazing, and the instructions are easy to follow.

This was a fun build. Just finished.Things to know:1. You will be putting a lot of stickers on tiny wooden pieces. a lot.2. The manufacturer gives extra of some parts but not all, so be careful not to break anything.3. At some points during construction it will be helpful to have a brace to hold the pieces upright, or a second person.4. Because of the extruding balconys, it may not fit all bookshelves.5. Once everything is put together it is mostly sturdy, but you will use a lot of the provided glue.This is very colorful and has fantastic lighting.Enjoy.

Can confirm it took 8 hours to complete! But was totally worth it! Love the end product! The pieces are somewhat tiny, and take patience. The wiring was a little complicated because the instructions were not the clearest. Will be buying more!!

This one was TOUGH! If you don’t have a lot of experience making book nooks, please hold off on this one until you have more experience. It’s beautiful, and I love it, but it was hard. I’ve built more than 15 book nooks so far and this one has been the most challenging.

This book nook is absolutely stunning! I built it completely by hand, and the entire process was such a joy. The instructions were clear, and every little piece fits perfectly. The end result looks magical — like a tiny enchanted library hidden between the books on my shelf. The lighting adds so much warmth and charm, especially in the evening. If you enjoy hands-on projects and beautiful miniature worlds, this is a must-have!

nookfan has great customer service! One of the light strips in the kit would not light up after installation. It took me awhile to decide to get a replacement. Once I figured out how to get in touch with nookfan on nookfan, everything went smoothly. I explained which part didn't work, sent photos of the part from the instruction and a photo of the step where it was installed. They replied promptly that they were mailing a new part, but since it was coming from China, it would take at least a week, probably 2. But the part arrived within a week! Color me impressed! Such a pleasure dealing with this company.

The kit itself is why I didn't rate it higher. It is definitely not for beginners. I had the most trouble getting the sides to work together. I think the two structures that the stairs go through could be re-engineered/supported better across the width of the book nook to improve the integrity of the structure. I had to buy a clamp to hold the bottom of the kit together while I carefully edged the balconies that joined the sides into position. And then hope the glue would hold. It seemed like everything needed glue to stay together, and it still feels rickety, like it might fall apart at the slightest touch. Even the adhesive on the books does not last. It was interesting to build, and it looks fine from a distance, but I'll think twice before buying another kit from this company.
