“DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE” Alice In Wonderland by Nookfan Design. Received as a X-mas gift. 2nd Book Nook assembly I’ve worked on but first one (A tarot themed book nook) was from a different company. This is so far fun although only on step 21 of 148. Suggested for ages 14+ which I agree if for nothing else a younger person can see the little parts easier then my 48 yr. old eyes. My opinion some of the printing is dark however no pixelated pictures.Things to know:1) kit comes with small size basic assembly tools, B-7000 glue, metal tweezers, a metal hammer/mallet, & a nail file board. [suggestions magnifying glass 🔎 & Mini Clamps]2) Everything is numbered & lettered3) Manual is visual rather than instructive4) The lighting device only needs 2 triple A batteries. No wiring required just place lights where it’s visually represented to do so following the steps [follow all steps in order for best results to avoid frustration in future steps of assembly]5) Don’t suggest an expectation of completion in 1 day as glue drying may hinder a quick timeline.6) Assembly time within reason a few days to a week based on how many steps per day you choose to do based of the 148 total steps in this particular book nook.* HAVE FUN!
The pieces fit together really well, and they are made so you have less trouble orienting them, except for the lights, I couldn't distinguish by the instructions which lights went where, but it came out cool anyway. There seemed to be a couple of extra pieces that weren't in the instructions. There's a moving wheel feature but no instructions for a way of spinning it, though there's an opening for it. The touch switch feature works great. Overall, I found the project enjoyable and not too frustrating.
I received this from my Mother in law for Christmas. This was fun, easy, and is absolutely beautiful! I love crafting & reading. Alice has always been a favorite. I was intimidated by all the pieces but once I started I didn't want to stop. The instructions were perfect & its very sturdy once completed. Came with everything I needed.
Still in the middle of assembling but I've done many of these and Nookfan by far, has the best quality product. Fit is wonderful, the lights always work and they provide glue. Nice weight to the wood so you rarely get any breakage at all, maybe just a little tip of something. Can't recommend this brand enough
Overall, this is a well-designed book nook kit with a lot of clever details, but it missed some opportunities. It has an Alice in Wonderland theme that it pulls off well with a psychedelic design that fits with the book. The lighting is particularly nice. It is also enclosed so that dust won't be a problem. Some of the missed details are in the domed ceiling and the light fixture in the lower area. This is an impressive design, but it is hidden behind archways, so you can't see it once the kit is assembled. You will know it is there, but no one else will. Also, there is a (water?) wheel that has a whole transmission system connected to it with several gears. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn it from outside the kit. The gearing system doesn't seem to serve any purpose. Despite these flaws, this is a really fun kit. It has a lot of detail but is not hard to assemble. Definitely recommended.
